The American Wirehair is the result of a spontaneous mutation in farm cats in 1966. A kitten was born with a hard, wiry coat, which was unlike either of its parents coat. This American breed is resistant to disease and easy to care for. They are quiet and reserved, yet loving. The American Wirehair is quite unique.
