The Balinese is analogous to the Siamese except for coat length. The Balinese's coat is long, where the Siamese's coat is shorthaired. The Balinese began to be bred in the 1940s. It is commonly accepted that the breed originated as a spontaneous longhaired mutation of the Siamese cat. This cat looks refined and majestic, but its personality is friendly and playful.
