The Indian Fantail Pigeon is a member of the Columbidae family, within the order Columbiformes, including some 300 species. The Indian Fantail Pigeon feeds on seeds and small fruits. Their fragile nests are made of sticks and the white eggs are cared for by both sexes. Unlike most other birds, the pigeons produce a substance called "crop milk" which is fed to their young by slothing of fluid-filled cells from the lining of the crop. The young pigeons are called "squabs." There are many people dedicated to raising performance and fancy pigeons as a hobby and for Pigeon Show competition.
