The Ring-necked type is the most common type of this bird. Males are very colorful, and have a long, narrow, streaming, tapered tail, a rooster-like bill, and a spurred tarsus. Their head and neck are iridescent purplish green. Their cheeks are red and their breast is coppery while the back and tail are orange-brown.
