These birds are non-migratory, year-round residents. They hibernate in small flocks with the sexes separate. The males and females give loud alarm calls like barnyard chickens. In the winter, they find shelter in wooded belts that provide feed and cover from predators. All chicks look wonderful in the pictures or photos.
