The Kladruby has a long swanlike neck and refined concave head. He is a large and powerful warm blooded equine and measures 175-180 cm high at the withers. There are two types of the Kladruber – Black and White; WWII reduced the breed, and nowadays it is considered to be rare.

Initially, the breed was intended for ceremonial tractions and was supposed to be strong and enduring. The horse was developed from horses of Italian and Spanish origins. The Kladruby stud farm was founded in 1579 by the Emperor of Rome and the Czech King Rudolf II.
