Female Peacock

Female peacock chicks are quite small; breeders should know their ins, outs, and peculiarities. The common name of these birds can be applied only to males; other birds should be called peahens. Peahens are smaller than males. Males usually weigh 9-13 pounds and peahens weigh 6-9 pounds. The average length of males is 7-9 feet, including the tail. Peahens are 2.5-3.5 feet in length. Peafowl are able to breed at the age of two years. Peahens usually lay from 6 to 8 eggs. The eggs are light brown in color. Peahens sit on the eggs about 28 days.
