These birds are considered to be the largest living birds in the world. A mature male stands nearly 8 feet high, and weighs between 140 to 230 pounds. Due to its unique appearance, these terrestrial birds cannot be mistaken for another species.

Males are black and white, while females may come in gray and brown colors. The birds’ huge body size and reduced wing size make them unable to fly. They have a long neck, long bare legs and two toes. They are capable of running up to 70 km per hour. The ostrich breeder will usually have a chick available if requested for a certain date.
