Japanese Monkey Snow -
photo, photos
Primates are exceptionally diverse and numerous animals, and many species can be found in tropical and subtropical areas of Africa, Asia, and Latin and South America. There are New World and Old World primates, and they have been evolving independently for 30,000,000 years. These two infraorders have a number of distinctive features. For example, Old World primates (Catarrhines) have downwardly projected nostrils that are separated by a narrow septum, while New World species feature flat noses with sideways directed nasal openings separated by a wide septum.
