Macaw babies are lucky to be born into a long life; if it is kept in an aviary, the bird stands the chance of living up to 80 years.
The average longevity of these birds is 30-40 years; larger birds live up to 80 years in captivity. These parrots usually mate for life and often show their affection by licking each other’s faces and preening. They build their nests together.

Breeding may occur any time of the year every one or two years. Females lay from 2 to 4 eggs and lay them for 20-30 days. Both parents feed the young until they are totally independent. At the age of 3-4 years these birds are sexually mature. Macaw babies are lucky to be born into a long life; if it is kept in an aviary, the bird stands the chance of living up to 80 years.
