There are 47 different species of this animal, and they are concentrated in Australia, New Guinea and Tasmania. There are also three large species in Australia: Eastern Gray (Macropus giganteus), Red (Macropus rufus) and Western Gray (Macropus fuliginosus), which inhabit grasslands and open plains with shrubs.
