Dog Breeders
Dog breeders should have clean well run kennels and may also be able to offer good information on training for their breed.
The breed originated in Scotland. It is the only gunhound among the native breeds of Scotland. It possesses many characteristics of the Irish and English Setter. Black and tan Setters existed there by the 1600s, and Alexander, the 4th Duke of Gordon, established the breed in the beginning of the 19th century.

They took part in hound shows since 1862. Only in 1972 the British Kennel Club gave the official classification to the breed. Purebred hounds are excellent dual-purpose hounds suited to working in the field and exhibited in the show. Besides they are faithful companion hounds and are very good with children.
