There exist about 400 species of these creatures; the majority of them live in Central and South America and only 17 species can be seen in the USA. In Texas, Arizona and other southern states you can see 15 species of them. When you buy birds, ask about care for the aviaries and make sure the breeder willingly answers the questions.
