This species is widely spread in the eastern part of the USA. In the winter these birds migrate to the southern states, such as Texas, Arizona and Florida, and Mexico because the food becomes scarce in their winter habitat.

As the name says these creatures have red chest and cheeks; the helmet is blue, the back and flanks are green and the underside is whitish.
