Horse Fence

Horse fences have recently undergone great improvement with electronic features that disengage the horse’s trek outside the property. Remote-controlled tracking monitors and electronic probes are not as devious as they appear. They’re safer and more secure than wood fences that can break down over time and let the horse move into the wild. Horse fences are necessary adjuncts to horse ownership because of their strict necessity in horse containment and protection. Horses shouldn’t be free to gallop in the wild because they could run into thieves or unfriendly territories. The horse fence needs to be put up right away; delay is not smart.

Putting up a horse fence is a smart thing. How many movies have you seen where the horses escape because there was no fencing or the fence was shoddy. If you are going to own a horse then you have to take the responsibility of keeping them on your property. There are different materials that are used to make up a horse fence; there are Flex Fencing, Electric Fences, Mesh Fences, PVC and a Board Fence. Most likely the fence that you put up will have to really be sturdy and tall enough so the horse does not jump over it.

Electric fences, almost the same type as electric dog fences will keep your horse away from the fence and they will not want to jump it either. Make sure that the voltage on the fence is not detrimental to the health of your horse. The goal of the horse fence is to keep the horses in one area. It is recommended that these horse fences allow enough room so that the horse won’t be tempted to jump and run away.

You also want to make sure that the horse fence has a sturdy lock on it. Horses are very strong animals and they are very smart. If they see a weakness in the fence holding them in, they may try to loosen the lock and push it open. You also want to keep other animals out of the horse area. If you are living on a wide-open area, you want to keep dogs cats and children out of the area. If you have other animals, maybe you should consider a mesh fence or an Electro braid fence. You don’t want others to get hurt while keeping your horses behind a horse fence.

Shop around and get prices on each type of fence you are interested in. Then survey your surroundings and see which style of best for your area. A horse fence is not a punishment for horse but a protection.
