African hedgehog is very bright, its hunting and catching the baby is popular for the bright spines and hides.
This animal is about the size of Guinea Pig, and it features white fur on the muzzle and belly, short ears and characteristic bands in the middle of each spine. There are several breeds featuring the bands of different colors.

In the 1990's these animals were sold from Africa to many countries of the world as home pets. The import was banned after the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Nigeria, from where they had been mainly imported. These animals can be of different sizes.
