In the 19th century the Havana Brown appeared in England. It was brought along with Siamese cats, and it was considered to be a branch of the Siamese breed. These two breeds show noticeable kinship so far, which is observable in their lean and flexible bodies.

There are two varieties of the Havana Brown: the British and the American. The British Havana Brown is more Siamese-like, and the American variety features a strong and muscular body build.
