Buying A Guinea Pig
Buying a guinea pig shouldn't cost too much; you may browse through photos of this rodent before buying.
Before you get your first animal you have to find out as much as you can about it from books, friends, Internet, or breeders. As there are lots of different breeds of these animals you should try to choose one that will suit not only you but the whole family as well. If you are interested in adopting a cavy, contact rescues and inquire about the availability of the pets. Be ready for rescue members to ask you a few questions concerning the care for the species and whether you have experience of owning the species. This is not just a cute little toy, but a living being, so don’t take a cavy if you are not sure that you will be able to provide it with everything that is needed.

Buying A Guinea Pig -
photos, rodent
A cage with walls 30 cm high, open on top and having a minimum floor area of 3,000 square cm will be enough for one animal. A pair of animals will demand more space. The cage should be made of wood, plastic or metal. Don’t use cedar; it is very dangerous for these animals. You will also have to clean out the cage 2-3 times a week, feed these animals a variety of fresh foods and change water daily. As these animals can easily catch pneumonia, you should never let the cavy’s room get draft or drop below 70 degrees.
