Guinea Pig Type

This animal is not a pig in the direct meaning of this word; this is a kind of rodent like a mouse, rat, beaver, porcupine or hamster. Originally, these animals came from South America. The ancestor of the domesticated species is considered to be the restless cavy, Cavia Cutleri. Nowadays, these animals are rather popular pets. There are a few varieties of the species for the future owners to choose from. They include: short-haired, Abyssinian, silky, Peruvian, teddy bear, texel, crests, colors, and patterns. They differ in size, coat color, and coat length.
