Guinea Pig Baby
Guinea pig baby photos may be accessible vis-a-vis from breeders; some are overzealous about picture-taking.
These animals become sexually mature at an early age. Males, for instance, should normally be 3-4 months old at their first breeding. Females should be first bred not earlier than 3 and not later than 7 months of age. Pregnant sows demand much attention and sufficient care. After the gestation period of 62 to 70 days, 4-6 babies are born. Females with a shorter gestation period tend to have a large litter; it means that the larger the litter the shorter the term of pregnancy is and vice versa. They are born relatively large and weigh about 70-100 grams. The babies should receive proper care and handling.

Guinea Pig Baby -
photos, breeders
An uncomplicated delivery is usually about 1/2 hour, with an average of 5 minutes between deliveries of each newborn. These animals are born with open eyes. The newborn animals have teeth and are fully furred. They are able to move almost from the very birth. It is recommended not to take them away from their mother for about two weeks. The young cavies nurse usually not only from the mothers, but also from other lactating females. If you are a novice owner, do not breed these animals. It is recommended to ask the breeder a few questions about the pregnancy and how the babies have been reared.
