These hounds are short coated and they must be provided with warm shelter in cold weather. As a guideline these creatures are generally happy to be outside in the daytime hours in eastern Maryland during the winter. In low temperature, these hounds should be kept inside.

When the temperature is below 40 degrees F they must have sleeping quarters that are above freezing.
