It is a common misconception that the AKC registration papers mean the dog is of a good quality. The fact is that the AKC will register every puppy whose parents were already registered, if the owner pays money. A dog doesn’t have to be checked for health or temperament to be registered. Some breeders register their puppies, but they may have genetic disorders. Only buying a puppy from a reputable breeder guarantees the dog of a high quality, not just registered.
