These dogs are very active. Novice owners who were not ready for such a high activity level find it difficult to train and exercise a pet several times a day. Without proper training and enough mental and physical stimulation, dogs of this breed may become difficult to control. Though these dogs are known as loyal and forgiving, they need early obedience training. If a puppy is not housebroken and provided with at least basic obedience training, it may develop bad habits in future life. Such puppies are very likely to end up in a shelter.
