NRGRR is dedicated to finding permanent suitable homes for the abandoned and mistreated dogs of this breed. Abandoned animals come from a wide variety of backgrounds: from broken families, from shelters, stray in the streets, or in other unsetting situations. When adopting a dog, every applicant pays an adoption fee ($225,) which partially covers the expenses on vet examination, spaying or neutering, vaccination, boarding and feeding. Prior to adoption, the dog lives in a foster family for rehabilitation and socialization for several weeks.

Golden Neuse Rescue Retriever River -
kennel, puppies
Also called Russian Retriever, Yellow Retriever.
The average lifespan of this breed is 10-13 years. Some individuals live up to 16 years; dogs with hereditary disorders may not live long. Because of careless breeding for profit, purebred dogs are prone to genetic disorders. In many bloodlines, life-threatening health problems occur often. It can be difficult to find an individual that remains healthy for a normal lifetime. All breeding stock should be examined by the OFA or by PennHIP for hip disease. Cancer, eye, heart, and skin disorders occur in this breed. Mutts are healthier than purebreds, because their gene pool is more varied.
