Usually more senior dogs are available for adoption than puppies and young dogs. But senior animals have their advantages over young ones. They are easy to adapt to new homes, they are not so demanding in exercises and can be left alone for a long time. Senior dogs are excellent first pets for children because they are loyal and will not hurt a child. Senior dogs don’t necessarily need a large fenced yard; they can be walked on a leash to be in a good form.

Prior to obtaining a purebred dog, consider unwanted pets overpopulation and visit a local shelter of dog pond. It’s a noble deed to save a life of a living creature. Dogs of this breed are very friendly and forgiving. They almost never develop aggressive behavior when their owners surrender them and form close bonds with the new family. Adopting an adult or senior dog has several advantages over buying a puppy. Adopted dogs are already housebroken, spayed or neutered; they don’t need socialization and obedience training; there will be no surprises concerning their health and behavior.
