This breed suffers from hip dysplasia, eye and heart problems and several other genetic disorders, so buying a puppy you have to ask for CERF, OFA and SAS certificates of the puppy and its parents, information on vaccination and worming. Only true breed fanciers care for the health and future well being of their animals, so it is very important to choose the right kennel. Puppies with minor disorders that cannot take part in competitions are classified as pet quality and sold at a discount. Pet dogs cannot be bred and should be spayed or neutered.

Health problems multiply as the breed continues to increase in popularity and there is an increase in indiscriminate breeding, because profit-oriented kennels produce poorly-bred dogs and don’t care about their future life.
