Breeders Flying Squirrel

These creatures are characterized by large eyes, prominent ears, and a bushy tail. The tail is flat and serves as a rudder during a “flight.” Despite the name, they do not really fly. They glide from one tree to the other in a very spectacular manner. In fact, they can glide for long distances.

These creatures can cover about 50 yards when gliding. However, the usual distance is shorter. What provides for this gliding ability is a fold of skin that extends from the wrists on the forelegs to the ankles on the hind legs. This membrane, called the patagium, resembles a parachute.
