The coat of the hound is of clear coal-black, mahogany-red, yellowish, or tan colors and straight or slightly wavered, but not curly. It should be soft and shining, with longer hair on ears, on chest, under stomach. There shouldn’t be tan hairs mixed in the black, or black hairs mixed in light colors.

The cheek is narrow as the leanness of the head allows. The muzzle is rather long with almost parallel lines.
