Originally bred for bull baiting, these dogs are used today as affectionate and faithful family companions with sense of humor and with no signs of aggression. They require constant human attention, like small children. These dogs are not very active; 20-40 minutes walk a day is enough for them. Despite their a little intimidating look, these dogs can get on well with trustworthy people, and some are even loyal to other animals. They should be taught to know their place in the human society, because some of them can be rather stubborn and display dominant behavior. This may be a challenging task, but once the dog sees you are not going to give in, it becomes absolutely obedient and amicable with you, your relatives and friends.
