Big Elk

These are solitary animals as far as males are concerned while the females are always together with the young. They were killed by hunters and there survived only in regions west of the Rocky Mountains. Nowadays these animals are also found in mountain ranges in Utah.

In captivity these animals may be fed on herbivore pellets, carrots, yams, apples, and romaine and alfalfa hay as well. In the wild, they eat high quantity, low quality and varied diet consisting of plants such as grasses, shrubs, herbs, saplings and bark.
