These dogs are about 11-16 inches (28-40 cm.) high and weigh about 32-34 pounds (14-16 kg.). They are slow, steady workers and hunt hare, fox, and occasionally deer. The coat of the dog is thick, close-fitting, and flat all over the body. The colors of the coat are: fawn, black, or black/tan.

The dogs were bred to drive game toward the hunter and were crossed with Weshpalian Dachsbracke that is a rare breed nowadays and local Sweden hounds.
