This breed might have descended from small Bloodhounds. Originated in France, the dogs are very popular in Great Britain and the United States. They are superb hunting dogs, and their scenting ability is almost equal to that of a Bloodhound.

Do not overfeed this dog. An extra weight puts a lot of strain on their legs and back. Three small meals a day is a recommended feeding routine. The dogs of this breed are gentle and mild in disposition and are extremely devoted to their family.
