Of the family Canidae, this carnivorous mammal is surmised to descend from the wolf and domesticated by man since prehistoric times. Often mentioned in the Bible, they were used for guarding flocks and watching homes. Then as is now, semi-wild canines wandered about devouring dead bodies and street offals.

Also called Russian Retriever, Yellow Retriever.
This animal is valued above all other inferior animals for intelligence, docility, and attachment to man. They were carefully bred for their characteristics for specific functions creating pure, mixed and partially domesticated varieties, such as the dingo for sporting, companionship, guarding, tracking or herding.
