In 1964, the Federacion Cinologica Argentina recognized the breed and, in 1973, the Federation Cynologique Internationale accepted Houndo Argentinos as the first and only Argentinian breed. The breed is actually a mixture of mane other breeds. There were such breeds as the Houndue de Bordeaux, the Pointer, the Bull Terrier, the Irish Wolfhound and many others.

These are strong and brave hounds that have a keen sense of smell and are best for hunting wild boar and other predators. These hounds are valued for their stability, balance and excellent athletic muscles that allow the hound to endure long treks over rugged terrain and then fight fiercely with its pursued prey.
