Dog Mats

Does your dog sleep on the cold floor? If so, invest in dog mats. If you are a true-blue dog parent, then you don't want your dog sleeping on the hard, cold floor do you? No, but you don't want the dog to sleep on your bed either. There is a great solution; invest in a dog mat. Dog mats are a bit different than a dog bed. Beds are more like little couches with a soft mattress. Mats are padded with some great warm material that you can place one anywhere in the house. Have you ever looked at dog mats? They make them so soft and so comfortable; if you were a dog, then you wouldn't mind sleeping there.

If you want something special, check online. There are some stores that offer to make a dog mat with the style of the bed and any fabric from their inventory. Most dog mats come in the following materials: Cotton Twill, Plaid, Denim, Suede, Ivory Jacquard, Sheepskin, Polyester Velvet, Fleece and Leopard skin, just to name a few. If you live in a state that has cold winters, then you will want to choose a Sheepskin or Cotton Twill material. If you live in a warm weather state, then you may want a lighter Cotton, Plaid or Denim.

Now, choosing dog mats for your pet can be challenging. You have to make sure that your dog fits on the dog mat that you have purchased. If you have a small dog like a Chihuahua or a Pekinese, then a small or medium mat would be great. Most of the time, small dogs curl up when they go to sleep; but, medium to large-size dogs like Labrador Retrievers and German Shepherds sleep on their sides so you want to get a large to extra large mat. Try to stay away from rounded mats unless you go one size bigger.

Dog mats come in some great sizes and designs; there are what is called the Ice Pack Mat, the Daisy Shaped Mat, the Oval Mat, Rectangle Mats and Round Mats. Some places carry one piece and two-piece mats. The two-piece mats can be great for 2 small dogs or one larger dog. By purchasing a dog mat for your dog, it shows that you care enough about your pet to give them a warm place to sleep. Do yourself a favor and look into dog mats because it will be a great place for your dog to sleep.
