Dog Houses
There's no denying that everyone needs a place of their own, and dogs
are no exception. The importance of your dog having a comfortable
quality dog house cannot be overestimated. Protection from weather and
elements help to extend and improve the quality of life for outdoor
dogs. Therefore, if you want to provide your dog with the care it
deserves, a good dog house is the right way to make your pet comfortable
in any weather.
Some dog owners are handy with a hammer and saw and they can build a
shelter for their dogs according to dog house plans or specifications.
Others can purchase ready-made dog houses or order to build one to their
dog's needs and their own preferences.
The design of the dog house should feature comfort for your dog in both
the extreme cold, and hot weather. A dog house should be strong,
durable, well built and structurally sound to give your pet the utmost
comfort in any weather conditions and to offer the best outdoor
protection available. Insulated dog houses help to keep your dogs warm
in the winter and cool in the summer.
Choose the right size of house for your dog:
-
the door height of the house should be at least three quarter of your
dog's shoulder height (from the ground to the neck);
-
the length and width of the house should be at least equal to but not
more than 25 percent larger than the distance between the nose and the
root of the tail;
-
the height of the house should be at least 25 percent taller and no
higher than 50 percent the height of the dog when stood erect.
No wonder, there have been hundreds of different dog house designs over
the years, and some of them being real works of art. The major goal
though is to provide the safe and comfortable place for your dog and
care for its health and well being.
