Dog Flea Shampoo
Every year at the end of spring, beginning of summer, it is a good idea to give your dog some steady dog flea shampoos. With spring comes warm weather but not as warm as summer when the fleas and ticks are starting to come out. It is a good idea to get a jump on flea season because once your dog has fleas it may be hard to get rid of them. So, at the beginning of warm weather, invest in a dog flea collar and then give your dog a dog flea shampoo.
Then again in the middle of the summer, you should change the flea collar and then give your dog another dog flea shampoo. This is to ensure that there are no fleas on your pet. If your dog does have some fleas then the dog flea shampoo will help get rid of them. By doing a combination of things you can keep your dog flea free this summer. Fleas hate water; by giving them a shampoo you are sure to kill any that may have landed on your dog.
There are your regular dog flea shampoos and then there is medicated dog flea shampoo. But if you start giving your dog shampoos and baths you have to be careful not to dry out their skin. Moisturize their skin with lotion from your vet or local pet store. Never use regular lotion that you would use, it may give your dog a rash.
Dogs are prone to fleas in the summer. But you can prevent that from happening by making a schedule for dog flea shampoo times. Once at the start of spring, once in the middle of summer, and then once again at the end of the season are good measures. Don't wash your dog with anything other dog flea shampoo to get rid of fleas. If you are not sure, ask your vet if they can recommend any specific brand of dog flea shampoo. Veterinarians are cautious about any kind of dog flea shampoo that is not a trusted brand. There is little regulation of pet products, and some can be poisonous. Don't select brands indiscriminately. A good dog flea shampoo should have essential oils like Tea Tree, Clove, and other exotic scents, antiseptics, ingredients, and fillers.
