Something that looks like red tape will surround your lawn or area you want to contain. When the dog steps outside of these boundaries, he will be jolted with a mild or harsh shock that will cause him to jump back to the safety of the yard. As a final note, mesh is a dubious material when it comes to getting a superb dog fence. If you go down that route, be wary of dog claws. Make sure that the mesh is small enough that dogs' claws cannot get inside; prohibit their claws destroying the fence with a fail-safe fence material that's constructed in a finely-tuned way.
