An america club collie member will follow strict dog breeding guidelines and provide health and genetic screening for all of their dogs.
The organization is dedicated to preserving the breed as a working stock dog. They promote the breeding only of sound and healthy animals. Responsible breeders should use only the dogs that are free of genetic defects. The organization encourages breed owners to work with their dogs in a wide range of canine sports.

There are two varieties of the breed: rough and smooth. The acceptable coat colors are tri-color, sable and white, blue merle and white. Males are usually between twenty-four and twenty-six inches at the shoulder. Females should be twenty-two to twenty-four inches.
