Keeping Cobras as pets is illegal because they are mortally dangerous. The practice of removing their venomous teeth is regarded as cruel and inhumane, and therefore, it is illegal too. However, their intelligent and graceful appearance has made them popular among snake fanciers.

The King Cobra is the largest species of the Elapidae family, holding the record of 24 feet in length. The Asian cobra is much smaller, and it rarely exceeds a length of 6 feet. Asian Cobras have a proportionately larger hood than King Cobras. Reptile breeders may like to take pictures and some may even live on farms.
