These snakes have large heads and, like all Najas, they feature dilatable necks, which can flare into characteristic hoods. The size and coloration of the snake is fully dependent on habitat, subspecies and geographic range. They measure 1 to 3 meters in length.

This is a large and highly poisonous snake, and it can be found in northern and eastern Africa, the western coast of the Arabian Peninsula and northern South Africa. Like all members of the group, the snake spreads its hood when disturbed or threatened. Egyptian cobra photos are chilling to some people; the babies are less intimidating.
