The Clouded Leopard inhabits tropical lowland woods of Southeast Asia, and some species have also been located in Himalayas. These felines are not classified as a subspecies of the leopard. Along with tigers, lions, jaguars, leopards and snow leopards, the Clouded Leopard belongs to the Pantherinae family.

Clouded Leopards feature distinctive patterns of cloud-like spots, each being dark brown at the edges and thinning smoothly down toward the middle. Their short legs, movable joints and strong claws provide for exceptional tenacity, and their striking long tail allows them to balance on narrow surfaces.
