By the age of 6 months, little wild cats attain adult coloration. They can do well without mother assistance when they are 10 months old. Breeding these animal in captivity is not very fruitful. These wild felines tend to be very aggressive towards other-sized animals.

Attempts to breed the animals in captivity often ended in fights between mates and even the death of a female. Introduction of males and females to each other from an early age helps to lessen aggression between the animals. These aniamsl tend to live about 17 years in captivity.
