These animals originated in France and were introduced to the USA in 1919. These animals weigh between 10-11 pounds. They have straight ears and a slight curve to their medium length bodies, beginning at the nape of their necks and following through to the rump.

These creatures are rather calm and enjoy attention. Their hair is short that make it easy to care for. The color at the base of the coat, next to the skin, is slate blue, and then there is a band of white hair, followed by a narrow band of black fur. Chinchilla rabbits are adorable as babies; a baby is difficult to resist buying.
