Like any dog breed, chihuahua puppy needs much attention, which rescues provide absolutely.
These creatures are very small (from 1 to 6 pounds) but should not be treated as toys. These little dogs are susceptible to injuries and should not be exposed to physical impact. Because puppies have large heads, births often require Caesarian sections. Puppies are extremely vulnerable and must be handled with great caution. They make good family pets, and should not be involved in hard work; small children should be supervised and taught to be careful with such a pet. In general, breeders do not recommend this dog for families with young children.

These creatures can have an open molera or soft spot on their head; this is natural, but it makes them delicate. If hit or dropped, the puppy can be seriously injured.
