The standard restricts the size, weight and body formation of the animal, and any visible deviation from it can be a disqualifying fault. The degree of accordance of a particular species is defined during shows. Upbringing is also evaluated at shows, and poorly behaved dogs cannot count on high scores. Dogs suffering from contagious diseases cannot be involved in breeding programs.
