The dogs of this breed are rather healthy in spite of their small size. They live up to 14-17 years and remain active and lively. The peculiar feature of these dogs is that they have a soft spot on the top of the head called molera. Aztecs considered this molera to be a sign of purity and worshipped such dogs; today, some lay people and even vets consider it to be a sign of hydrocephalia. The only serious problem with these dogs is complicated labor and high level of puppy mortality.

That was an ancient Techichi breed and it was very different from its modern descendant.
