There exist two types within the breed: smoothcoats and longcoats. Every coat color and pattern is permissible, but solid colors are preferable.

These animals are superb family companions, especially for elderly people. They also make excellent therapy pets. However, they are not recommended for kids, because they have very fragile bones and hence are susceptible to fractures. Puppies and some adult dogs have an unclosed section on top of the skull called ‘molera.’ These dogs are extremely prone to head injuries, which can be disabling or fatal.
