Such dogs are very small and curious-looking; they combine the features of their parents in an unpredictable proportion. The personality of such creatures is very friendly; they take the best traits from their ancestors and are smart, intelligent, loving and specially designed for an apartment living. Often such dogs appear from undesirable crossbreeding of purebred dogs. Many dogs are abandoned and found stray in the streets and in rescue organizations waiting for new homes. They should be spayed or neutered prior to adoption in order not to spoil the breed.

This is one of the healthiest breeds in the world, and these dogs can live 16-18 years. However, they have very fragile bones and are extremely vulnerable to traumas. They are also sensitive to cold and tend to wheeze and snore. Puppies and dogs with unclosed fontanels (an unclosed section on top of the skull) are susceptible to head injuries and must be treated with great caution. Births frequently require caesarian sections, because puppies have large heads. These dogs are not recommended for small children and should not be trusted with larger dogs.
