Minature Chihuahua
The minature chihuahua dog is not a breed type and is usually just very small, unless a genetic dwarf variety; it may be found in pictures of rare dog collections.
There are two grades of this breed, like of any other breed: show quality and pet quality. Although very small dogs of this breed are very rare and expensive, they are just of a pet quality and cannot be registered by the AKC and other organizations. There is no distinction within this breed based on the size of the dogs and teacup creatures should not be bred on purpose, they are just born occasionally. Such dogs can be either a freak of nature or they are prematurely born. They can also have a dwarf gene.

Purebred dogs measure 6-9 inches high at the withers and never weigh more than 6 pounds. They have a delicate yet sturdy body with a deep chest, level back and widely set front legs. The hind legs are straight and well angulated. Feet in both front- and hind legs are small and dainty, with well separated toes. Head is apple-shaped, with or without a molera (an unclosed section on top of the skull,) and with a pointed muzzle. Ears are large, and placed at a 45-degree angle when in repose. Tail is sickle-shaped and is carried over the back.
